VALENTINE’S DAY PROPOSAL- DOS AND DON’TS

Valentine’s Day is one of the most popular days of the year to propose to your special someone. So, if you are planning on putting a ring on it this Valentine’s Day, here are some important do’s and don’ts to make sure the day runs a smoothly as possible.

1. DO- Make it meaningful

This is a day that you both will remember for the rest of your lives so make sure to make it as special as possible. Mention other memorable moments during the proposal, such as the first time you met, to make the day even more special.

2. DON’T- Let the secret slip

The more details that people know the more you risk ruining the surprise. Keep people on a need-to-know basis where you only tell the them the necessities about the day. This will also allow you to share the happy news together as a couple.

3. DO- Consider all your options

Take your time to consider what your partner would love the most on their special day. For example, they might not like being in the spotlight, so perhaps a public proposal is not for them. Do some digging and ask family and friends to help you with this.

4. DON’T- Stick to a script

Of course, it is important to know what you want to say in that special moment. However, if you decide to memorise exactly what you are going to say, it could sound unnatural or even forced. It is best to think of three main points that you want to get across and just say what you are feeling in the moment.

5. DO- Have a backup plan

Make sure to plan ahead in case weather or venue plans don’t go ahead. It’s important that the proposal can go ahead no matter what so that a little rain won’t dampen your special moment.

6. DON’T- Sweat it

Whether the day runs completely smoothly, or something unexpected comes along and ruins the moment, the worst thing you can do is panic. If something doesn’t go to plan the best thing to do is just laugh it off.

7. DO- Share the news

Find out the best way to spread your exiting news to extended friends and family. This could be done in person, over a family zoom call or as a post on social media.
